Do you think Johan Santana will do good this year despite him doing bad in spring training?

Johan Santana gave up a homerun in Spring Training. This might me a sign of something bad in the season. Agree or Dissagree|||Disagree - Santana will be dominant. Spring Training - especially the first start means nothing. These guys are working on throwing strikes - not hard strikes, just throwing them. It means nothing.

Zito isn't a similar case at all. He won't be recovering... ever.|||i agree, it'll take him a year to settle in with the mets... same thing happened to barry zito last year with the giants.|||spring training is just that. training.

come opening day, johan will be whiffing the batters away|||LOL|||nehh johan santana is one of the best pitchers in the mlb despite his worst season last year . he is still a good, quality picher and yes i think santana will be a great pickup for the mets|||Spring Training...it's in the name. Santana might be trying to work out a few pitches, try a few different things. With the Mets lineup Santana will win a lot more games than he did last year.

Also, the advantage goes to the pitcher for facing batters the first time.|||He'll struggle more with the bat, since he's not used to batting. As far as pitching, I think he'll have it a tad easier since it's one less batter he'll be facing (remember, pitchers bat in the NL).|||I think you're joking. I hope you're joking. Please, tell me you're joking.|||I'm thinking, Liner up the middle.|||just because he gave up 1 HR doesnt mean hes gonna suck, hes one of the top 3 pitchers in the mlb. hes also in the NL, which sucks compared to the AL. hel be dominant and win the Cy Young by a landslide as long as he stays healthy|||Disagree. Spring training is a time to get the arm in shape, work on technique, and experiment with new pitches. As long as Santana stays healthy he should be flirting with a 20 win season and Cy Young consideration.|||spring training has little relevance on the season. He will have some success because the national league parks are bigger, the pitchers hit and the hitters are unfamiliar with him. I would expect his ERA to be lower than last year and probably 15 wins.|||Johan is a Quality pitcher he will do well but switching Leagues isn't as easy as everybody thinks, all the AL Fans preach how they have so many better hitters over there, but let me tell you the NL have there share too. Having to get up to the plate with a bat in his hand and probably seeing a little chin music will take him off his A game.Hes not gonna Win every game or win 20 games either but 15 is not out of the question. If was a pitcher I defiantly throw inside to him to see how he reacts, then I would walk him in the proper situation to make him run the bases in the 100 degree heat to take away from his stamina|||Disagree, it will just take some time for him to do good. You have to remember most pitchers don't really have excellent Spring Trainings. It takes time for that arm to get into gear. Without the DH and deadly lineups of the Indians, Tigers, Yankees and Red Sox he will be great this year.|||Its not Santana that should worry the Mets fans. It should be the # of players on the DL that should concern them.

Santana will be alright.|||never ever again mention Barry Zito and Johan Santana again in the same sentence. I am a true blue dodger fan, but honestly Santana will dominate. Zito is a $120 million piece of garbage.|||He'll be fine he's got the Cy Young to prove it.|||Disagree.

The purpose of spring training is to get ready for the regular season, whcihdoesn't begin until March 31. As long as he's ready to go by then, whats the problem?
